The Albuquerque Browncoats are celebrating their 10th anniversary of holding CSTS events in Albuquerque!
Organizer Charlie Fitch took over organizer duties in 2013 in Albuquerque for two reasons. First, the cause and work of Equality Now was just so inspiring and important – and second, despite all the work and long hours, CSTS continued to be a source of joy and fun, which was echoed by the increasing crowds of Browncoats who showed up by the hundreds. “I am honored to have had Johanna as a partner in crime for the past six years and by the great crew of volunteers who donate generously of their time, and by creating or donating collectables for our raffles and auction.” Organizer Johanna Morganstern has lead a lifetime of service and was with the Mile High Browncoats before landing in Albuquerque. She says “It’s been an honor and my pleasure to be a member and given my time and efforts to this worthy cause all these years.”
On Saturday, July 14th from 6pm until 11pm they will be showing “Serenity” on the big screen and having food, fun, raffles, prizes, costume contest, shiny merchandise, live auction, shindig, and more!
Organiser Charlie says “We are blessed to host our CSTS events at the beautiful, unique landmark KiMo Theatre which is a rare Pueblo Deco movie palace, built in 1927. The name “KiMo” is a combination of two Tiwa words, loosely translated as “king of its kind”. It’s hard to explain – even with pictures – just how “off-the-hook” and amazing the decorations are at the KiMo. Almost every inch of wall, and ceiling is covered with pueblo deco motifs (painting, carving, or tilework) or painted murals – and it is all faithfully restored or recreated from the 1927 original. It is worth the price of admission all by itself. This is a great pictorial article about the KiMo: https://www.hiddennewmexico.com/blog/2017/5/31/kimo-theater.”
“We are proud of our 10 years of continued support to outstanding charities: Equality Now and our local charity UNM Children’s Hospital. Firefly lives!”
Tickets are available via KiMoTickets.com (there is reserve seating this year) and more information can be found on their Facebook page
