For the second year in a row, the Browncoats in Arlington, Virginia will be hosting a Can’t Stop the Serenity event at the Arlington draft house.
The event is on Saturday 21st October from 2pm until 5pm and organiser Ray says “Ample comfortable seating accompanied by amazing beers on tap, and space cowboys? What could possibly be better? We will also have awesome door busters, raffle give aways so good you’ll buy the whole crew apples, and a costume contest prize that will make ya glad ya dressed shiny!
However, beauty isn’t everything. The runner up in the costume contest will have a rapid fire trivia round for the opportunity to kill their competition with their brain. Don’t forget ALL proceeds go to charity! So while you’re having fun in costume watching Serenity in a comfy leather chair you will be giving to the future of young women who would have been forced into an underage marriage.”
Money raised from this event will be shared between Equality Now, The Fund for Global Human Rights and Bethesda Cares. Check out the links for more information on these fantastic charities.
Tickets are available from Ticketleap.com and more information can be found on the CSTS Nova Facebook page or by e-mailing them at novabrowncoats@gmail.com
Hello Browncoats,
Had a good time this year attending the Arlington “Can’t Stop the Serenity” Eqality Now charity event at the Arlington Cinema and Draft House. Even was the first to be called during the raffle. Unbelievable for me to win anything anytime. This was my fifth time going to this event and have always had a great time sitting with fellow new and longtime fans. But this year, I was surprised to see so few fans in attendance. Past years have been sold out and almost every seat filled. Back then we had blind auctions for Firefly items, live music, two rows of people on stage for the costume contest, and last year we had a trivia contest. The cinema has played Dr. Horrible’s Sing Along Blog before the playing of Serenity. I know it take a huge amount of effort to put this event on but we can’t let it fade away. Come on Browncoats, let’s be Big Damn Heroes and do better next year. Can’t Stop the Signal and Keep Flyin’!
